DC Comics is offering up the first issue in the Tom Taylor-written ("The Deep") series which reveals the big bad thing that cause Superman to go dark in "Injustice: Gods Among Us."
Spoilers: it has to do with his favorite reporter at the Planet.
Double spoilers: it's not Cat Grant.
Is "superhero goes to tell another superhero that he's getting married/having a kid" the comic equivalent of a cop just two weeks out from retirement? In any event, Superman's good news turns into a bad day in Taylor's prequel series which features art by Jheremy Raapack ("Resident Evil," "Batman: Arkham Unhinged").
The book got some strong (not great) reaction when it launched given the fate of a prominent character in the Superman mythos who tends to have it rough every time there's a new Elseworlds tale.
